If the camera is not detected, then you should check if the Drivers are installed properly for the camera. Go to Device Manager using Start > Run > Devmgmt.msc. Make sure that the camera is installed properly. If you see a yellow sign, right-click the item and choose Update Driver. Follow the instructions and then restart the browser and the computer, and it should work.

Additionally, reinstall the Facebook Video package and restart the browser then try calling again.

According to the developer's information, the Video Calling option is available for Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera browser. The plug-in will automatically be offered for installation when you click the camera icon in the Facebook Chat.

Make sure that you don't have any pop-up blockers or Internet Security applications that block the installation of the plug-in.

Please tell me the reason why the Facebook Video Call software cannot be installed on my PC. I have a 2006 version of Windows.

Video calling is supported by both Windows XP and Windows Vista. Based on the year mentioned, these are the operating systems released in that timeframe. If you have Windows Vista, please run the installer as administrator then you can initiate a video call.

If you have an Internet Security application, please allow it or add it to Trust Zone.

If you can't download the plug-in then I recommend on installing another browser and point it to the direct download URL available for the plug-in. The file will be saved as: FacebookVideoCallSetup_v1.2.205.0.exe. As for the error you're receiving, the FIXIT package from Microsoft Support should resolve it. Download the package and run it. You might need to restart your computer when the process completes.

The problem is that the other person needs to install the client as well. The infinite loading issues will remain this way as long as the other person denies the installation of plug-in.

You have to only use the Facebook application in the moment of calling (no other applications that are supposed to work with the webcam). If you're trying to place the call with another application opened, if you will see a black screen with sound.

You should delete the CHK files because they are useless. The problem is that these files don't have the data in one piece and they only contain small parts of certain data. Since there is no way to extract these files, I can guarantee you that it can be deleted without worries.

You need to check a few things, because the no sound issue could be caused by:

  • Speakers are set on mute.
  • Wrong jack configuration in the sound panel. You need to assign each jack to the correct color and configuration to hear properly.
  • Sound driver is faulty. Go to Device Manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc) and re-install the driver. Right click the sound device and choose Update Driver.

After this procedure, access Uninstall a Program and remove the Facebook Video Calling, then re-install it.
